If you think you have a "locksmith" type cat, then this is without a doubt the answer! This cover normally comes installed on outdoor Koi-Pond Super Feeders, but we have modified it slightly to accommodate the Cat feeder. It DOES NOT normally come installed on the CSF-3 mainly to allow larger food to pass through the normal chute opening and to allow a small animal to dislodge a piece of food from the chute, should a customer use oversized food. Although we have tested our CSF-3 and chute cover with "normally" sized cat food like "Special Kitty" or "Science Diet" with very good results, we recommend that you test and use the SMALLEST suitable cat food when using this cover to assure best performance and dependability. Small kibbles offered by SCIENCE DIET IS PERFECT! Also, for best results to prevent an aggressively active cat from scratching the slide at the chute opening, we recommend placing the feeder so the chute cover is as close as possible to the food bowl. Using that technique, he will not be able to get his paws into it and scratch the feeder's distribution slide. Works great! Most customers don't need it, but if you have that real mischievous cat, this is the answer to a potential chute intrusion problem. If it is ordered with the feeder, it normally will be installed for you. if not, follow the instructions below: TO INSTALL: WHILE HOLDING FEEDER UPSIDE-DOWN, REMOVE BOTTOM OF FEEDER BY UNSCREWING THE 6 SMALL STAINLESS STEEL SCREWS, MOVE SHAKER WIRE OUT OF WAY, MOVE DISTRIBUTION SLIDE OUT OF THE WAY, THEN SLIDE CHUTE STRAIGHT INTO THE OPENING. RE-INSTALL IN REVERSE ORDER BY MAKING SURE SHAKER WIRE IS AGAINST BOTTOM OF SLIDE. THE CHUTE COVER DOES NOT SNAP IN OR OUT, SO DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT OUT OR YOU WILL BREAK IT!!
